Oakbrook Terrace Park District’s ‘Music Under the Stars’ Opener Act for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra

This was my debut of “Gentile…Into the Night” concert. My sponsor was the Oakbrook Terrace Park District and it was a pleasure working them. This was one of the hottest days of the summer. The sound check at 1:30 pm that day was quite a challenge. My feet were burning on the black stage! I had to keep alternating my feet, standing on my left foot, right foot…the platform was burning up!  Of course when the press showed up to capture pre-event photos for the newspapers, I kept both feet on the ground…no pain, no gain!

About two minutes before show time a black and green thunderstorm rolled in and delayed us for about an hour and a half! The Park District and KCM Productions moved as fast as they could to move the remaining crowd in to the Joanne B. Anderson Theater. By that time it was standing room only and I took stage quite eager to meet my audience.  It was an amazingly magical evening and I was so grateful to my family and friends who came out to support me.
